From an Interview with Lisa Niemi Swayze, on the loss of her husband, PATRICK SWAYZE
“I said to her that it takes a long time for the pain to go away. And she said, ‘It never goes away. It’s not like you move on.’
“She was right. You learn how to manage. I have good days and bad days, and the good days get longer and longer. The whole experience of grief — of losing the one you love most in the whole entire world is unbelievably hard — and much harder than anyone ever told me it would be.”
Finally I asked what Lisa was going to talk about at the conference. She said, “I’ll probably talk about overcoming adversity. I’ll probably say this: Every morning, you have to reinvent yourself and decide how you want to live. I’ve met so many people from the most humble to the most famous, so I know that you can have everything you wish for and still not be happy.
