MY BRONX CHILDHOOD

Grace Aprea Johnson EXACTLY the TRUTH of how it was==except skellies ??? never called the store --- bodega, mine was mostly an italian neighborhood. This post is not complete with THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN YOUR BRONX CHILDHOOD---THE JOHNNY PUMP !!! or hydrant...that's where all the kids COOLED OFF SCREAMING, GETTING SOAKED WITH OUR CLOTHES ON !!! AND THEN AN OLDER BOY GOT A WOOD BOX, that was also used to make SCOOTERS, and HELD IT OVER THE WATER FLOWING FROM THE JOHNNY PUMP MAKING A SPRAY THAT WENT UP TO THE SKY...and all the kids JUMPED AND SCREAMED LOUDER...until the cops came and we all ran away laughing and screaming...and they turned off the pump with a GIANT WRENCH, and all the kids watched as the water flow got less and less...and we were sad, because our summer fun ended...BUT NOT FOR LONG !!! BECAUSE AS SOON AS THE COPS LEFT===A DEFIANT AND DETERMINED AND OH SO KIND TEENAGE BOY REMEMBERING HIS YOUNGER DAYS, OPENED UP OUR JOHNNY PUMP AGAIN !!! AND THE SPLASHING AND SCREAMING AND LAUGHING BEGAN ALL OVER AGAIN...UNTIL MR. SOFTEE

If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.
